Seasonal Remix: Styling Summer Pieces in Fall

I’ve never been the type to follow the “season’s over” rule when it comes to my wardrobe. If I love something in July, I’ll find a way to make it work in October — lace-trim skirts under oversized knits, off-white trousers with chunky boots, strappy dresses layered over turtlenecks. For me, the best outfits happen in that in-between space, when summer pieces meet fall textures and everything feels a little unexpected. This post is all about stretching the life of your warm-weather favorites, and making them feel just as at home in sweater season as they did under the summer sun.

Off-White After Labor Day

This summer, I have been loving off-white jeans. As an avid jean short hater, I find myself constantly looking for bottoms in the summer that feel casual but still elevated and more flattering than a denim short. My favorite pair of jeans this season have definitely been the Parke Horseshoe Jeans. I absolutely love the fit of the jeans—I was unsure of the barrel jean style before, but now I'm hooked. They are perfectly baggy while still having enough structure and shape. I have them in multiple colors, but my most worn pair is definitely my Cream pair. I love cream jeans because they feel clean and fresh like white pants, but I don't feel the same pressure when I'm wearing them to keep them totally stain-free. And I'm not one to follow the "no white after Labor Day" rule, but I do feel that cream is an easier color to transition than white. Shop some of my favorite off-white jeans below!

In the heat, I've I kept my cream jeans light and airy. My go-to combo was a slim tank or breezy linen button-up, paired with strappy sandals. I've leaned heavily into bold accessories—chunky jewelry and textured bags to keep the look easy and warm-weather friendly.

I’m definitely keeping my cream jeans in rotation once the weather cools down. I’m picturing rich textures like suede and chunky knit sweaters, layered with different washes of denim for depth. And of course, a little fringe—because nothing says fall quite like movement and texture. See some of my style inspo below plus some pieces I'm eyeing linked in my ShopMy!

Step Into the Season: Swapping Sandals for Boots

One of the easiest swaps I’ll be making this season is trading my summer sandals for boots. It’s a simple switch that instantly makes an outfit feel more fall-ready, while letting me extend the life of my favorite warm-weather pieces. I’ll be pairing boots with everything from my breezy linen sets to my lightweight summer dresses—adding just enough edge and warmth to carry them into cooler days.

Recently Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the Danish brand  Dico Copenhagen. Their boots strike that perfect balance of timeless and charming—they’re exactly the kind of shoe you can invest in knowing you’ll pull them out year after year. I’m a cowboy boots kind of girl through and through, but this season the Dico Copenhagen Gaucho Boots are at the very top of my wish list. They’re timeless yet modern, plus, they come in so many gorgeous colors that I genuinely can’t decide which pair to go for—and honestly, that might be the best problem to have. There’s something I love about the contrast between light, airy summer pieces and the grounding presence of a great boot. A floaty linen set or a gauzy sundress instantly takes on a new personality when paired with sturdy leather or suede—it’s equal parts effortless and intentional. The combination feels transitional in the best way, bridging the gap between breezy August afternoons and crisp October mornings. See some of my style inspo below!

Lace in the Layers

Lace-trimmed pieces may whisper of summer, but with a little styling magic, they can transition fluently in fall. Those silky camis, slip skirts, and pajama-inspired shorts that felt so effortless in July don’t need to be tucked away when the leaves start to turn. The trick is contrast — pairing the delicate, almost ethereal quality of lace with the grounded textures and rich layers of autumn.

The beauty of lace trim is its versatility: it adds just the right touch of elegance peeking out from a structured jacket or a cozy sweater. Pair a lace-trimmed cami with high-waisted jeans and your favorite boots for a look that’s both romantic and grounded. Or, throw a leather jacket over a lace-trim midi dress to edge up the softness with fall-ready grit. This season, I have been loving my lace-trimmed Fleur De Mal Poplin Boxer Short in Ice Blue. They are the perfect lightweight shorts for hot days. I'm excited to pair them with cozy sweaters and chunky accessories, and—if I’m being totally honest—my trusty black cowboy boots come fall. As temperatures drop, think of lace as your season-spanning accent — a romantic layer that breaks up the bulk of cold-weather dressing. It’s the contrast that makes it modern, and the layering that makes it last beyond summer. With the right pairings, your lace pieces won’t just survive the seasonal shift — they’ll thrive in it. See how I'm planning on styling some of my lace-trimmed pieces below!

Seasonal change doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch — it’s about reimagining what you already love. Whether it’s layering lace under chunky knits, trading sandals for statement boots, or giving off-white its moment well past Labor Day, the key is confidence and creativity. Fashion rules bend easily for those willing to experiment, and fall is the perfect canvas for mixing textures, tones, and moods. So go ahead — let your summer favorites linger a little longer, just dress for the season ahead.

Here's to making every season your most stylish yet!

xx Patsy
